Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. ~1 Corinthians 4:1 (NKJV)
With all the tags and titles we carry, it is crucial to remember that ministers of Christ are, first and foremost, servants. As His ministers of reconciliation, we share the powerful Gospel message of God’s liberating power to save all who believe in Christ. This Good News shows how we can become righteous in God’s eyes by having faith in Him (Romans 1:16-17).
As true servants of our Lord Jesus, we must not engage in quarrels or fights. Instead, we should be gentle listeners, kind and patient with everyone to maintain peaceful relationships. We must also be skilled teachers, who can effectively deal with difficult people. By gently instructing those who oppose the truth, we can help them see their true condition and turn away from darkness to the Light and from Satan’s power to God’s power.
By doing so, we give God space to work in people’s hearts, allowing them to learn the truth, come to their senses, and escape the devil’s snare enslaves them to his will. When they place their faith in Christ, they receive total forgiveness of sin and become heirs of God’s precious promises (2 Timothy 2:24-26, Acts 26:18).
In Christ, our tag, title, position, power, status or state does not matter. We are all servants Christ at best.
Servants at Best
© Odette Hannah 3/7/13
From this day forward
Until eternity,
Remember this one thing
On your road to destiny.
No matter who you are,
No matter what you possess,
We are all
Servants at best.
In this world
Are many titles:
Doctor, Lawyer, or
Maybe a Firefighter.
But no matter
What our quest,
We are all
Servants at best.
We all play a part
In our destiny:
Deacon, musician or even
Five-fold ministry.
But no matter
What we profess,
We are all
Servants at best.
Some positions
Wield lots of power.
While others get paid
Pennies by the hour.
But no matter
How much we assess,
We are all
Servants at best.
Put all confidence
In only Christ,
Not in the toys and
treasures of this life.
No matter who
Owns more or less,
We are all
Servants at best.
We all have an
Appointment with purpose:
At the Oval Office
Or in a 3-ring circus.
But no matter what
Position we possess,
We are all
Servants at best.
God gave us each
Gifts and talents.
Without Him
We are out of balance.
But no matter
How we are blessed,
We are all
Servants at best.
We may have inherited
Loads of money
Or our check books
Are looking quite funny.
But no matter
What we bequest,
We are all
Servants at best.
We may live in a place
That is quite nice
Or in the corner of room
That is fit for mice.
But no matter
What our address,
We are all
Servants at best.
It's not about us,
But about Him alone.
All praise and glory
To Him belong.
But no matter
Who we've impressed,
We are all
Servants at best.
Our confidence is
Found only in God.
Any other thinking
Is vastly flawed.
But no matter
What we attest,
We are all
Servants at best.
We are all
Servants at best.
Nothing more.
Noting less.
No matter the position.
No matter the quest.
We are all
Servants at best.
